A Tighter Vagina - the Answer to Happiness
By Marja Sprock, M.D. FACOG, FPMRS Board Certified

Healthy sexuality contributes to overall quality of life. Even though admittedly not all sex involves a vagina, for women and their partners the tightness of the vagina plays a significant role. Before childbirth the vagina is rarely ever too wide. The problem usually occurs after vaginal childbirth, where the couple experiences less friction.

A wider vagina after childbirth used to be a hidden secret, however in this day and age it is becoming more of a problem. Instead of having years of frustrating sex, it may be better to have a consultation about vaginal tightening.

Vaginal tightness, achieving the right fit, increases sexual pleasure and satisfaction. It also enhances body confidence and feeling sexy

Non-surgical ways to achieve improvement are pelvic muscle training. Even if your vagina were tight, being able to contract the muscles at will increases the level of pleasure. Exercising the pelvic muscles can be done in the comfort of your home with devices like the Intone® or Apex® or in the clinic with even more advanced biofeedback training. Nice side effect is that it will also improve urine and stool control and a lot of people use the devices for that indication.

Few women have a very wide vagina before pregnancy and vaginal childbirth, but it can definitely be a curse. I have met women who are convinced their partners left them because there was no sexual satisfaction since their vagina was too wide. Now this may or may not be the case and there is probably more to the story, however a tighter vagina can contribute to a healthier sex life.

Even though some men, including some of my colleagues are convinced the tighter the better, there is a too tight. In other words be careful how tight is considered tight, if you would like to have a partner fit in there. It is important if you have a very large or on the other hand quite small partner to make sure that the vagina will be properly fitted.

Some women like to start all over and have their vagina feel like new. They like to rid themselves of the inhibition of a lax vagina and regain body confidence and feel sexy again. Meeting new sex partners and enjoying sex has a lot to do with confidence. There is no need to feel insecure about your vagina, or suffer for years after it has been stretched by vaginal births. An outpatient surgical procedure can make the vagina tighter. This can even be done without removing tissue, or interfering with the nerve supply. Nerves are important and sensation should be better, not diminished.

Before you think your vagina suddenly has become too wide, make sure your partner achieves and holds a good erection. Lack of sensation can also be caused by a lack of a sustained or good erection. Obviously the treatment for that is not tightening the vagina. For the latter a tight vagina may actually be a big hurdle to take.

Is a tighter vagina the answer to happiness? If it enables you to be more confident, have an improved body image and achieve a better fit and sexual satisfaction, it is certainly a step in the right direction.

Be happy about your vagina, improve your self-confidence and enjoy your sex life.
